About the Collection
The Australian Legacy Opal Collection
Over several decades, a private Australian opal collection was gradually assembled through direct sourcing from regions including Lightning Ridge, Coober Pedy and Andamooka.
The collection centres on individuality โ stones selected for natural colour movement, pattern formation and visual character. Today, it spans a wide range of Australian opal types and sizes, with each gemstone remaining unique in structure and appearance.
The collection now quietly looks toward a new generation of opal collectors โ continuing the appreciation and preservation of stones that nature cannot repeat.
These opals are presented live on a regular basis โ discover, engage, and acquire in real time.

The Finite Nature of Australian Opal
Formed over millions of years beneath the Australian landscape, fine opal remains one of the worldโs most limited natural gemstones.
Today, exceptional material from regions such as Lightning Ridge, Coober Pedy and Andamooka has become increasingly scarce, with high-grade stones appearing far less frequently than in previous decades.
No two opals are ever identical โ and as supply continues to diminish, truly remarkable stones become increasingly difficult to replace.
Each opal remains a singular natural creation โ explored individually within the full collection below.

AUSTRALIA
From ancient inland seas to remote desert landscapes, Australia has given the world the finest precious opal. These four legendary regions continue to produce the most extraordinary gems on Earth.
Lightning Ridge
New South WalesHome to the legendary "Aurora Australis" โ the world's most valuable opal. The undisputed capital of black opal โ the most valuable and sought-after variety of opal on Earth. Lightning Ridge produces stones with extraordinary depth of colour, where vivid spectral hues dance against dark body tones created by trace carbon and iron oxide. Miners have worked the underground shafts here since the early 1900s, unearthing stones that have become some of the most expensive gems ever sold, rivalling the finest diamonds and rubies.
Coober Pedy
South AustraliaSource of many museum-quality white and crystal opals admired for their spectral brilliance The world's most famous opal mining town, responsible for approximately 70% of the world's gem-quality opal. Its name derives from the Aboriginal kupa-piti โ "white man's hole" โ a reference to the underground homes carved into ancient sandstone to escape scorching desert temperatures that can exceed 50ยฐC. The field stretches across the vast Stuart Range in the heart of the Great Artesian Basin, producing luminous white opals and dazzling crystal opals prised for their purity and spectral fire.
Andamooka
South AustraliaThe 203-carat "Andamooka Opal" gifted to Queen Elizabeth II in 1954. Set on the ancient shores of Lake Torrens, Andamooka produces luminous crystal opals of exceptional clarity alongside its unique matrix opal โ a porous stone that can be treated to reveal hidden fire within. The region gained worldwide fame in 1954 when a magnificent 203-carat opal from Andamooka was presented to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during her first Australian tour โ a stone now known simply as "The Andamooka Opal."
Queensland Boulder Belt
QueenslandStretching from Quilpie to Winton across the ancient Cretaceous seabed, the Boulder Belt produces opal uniquely bonded to its ironstone host rock. The result is dramatic, abstract patterns of brilliant colour that no two stones can ever replicate. The region is also renowned for Yowah Nuts โ small ironstone nodules that conceal precious opal centres โ and pipe opals formed within fossilised root channels deep underground.
Why Opal Must Be Seen in Motion
Under magnification, fine opal reveals microscopic silica structures formed naturally over millions of years beneath the Australian landscape. As light moves through these formations, each stone scatters colour differently โ creating the shifting play-of-colour that makes every natural opal visually unique.
The rarest opals are quietly preserved from collector to collector.
